Help us fight graffiti: File a Police Report

Dear Property Owners and Businesses in GatewayJFK,

As you may have noticed there has been a recent increase in graffiti in the BID. It appears that the vandals have been striking overnight and on weekends.

I’ve reached out to Ofc. Jessica Kohler of the NYPD, who is the NCO for our sector in the new Community Policing effort in the area. I have asked her to put extra officers on patrol in the area. She has three officers in her steady sector rotation that she can assign to the area over the weekend, but she needs property owners or company managers to file police reports related to the graffiti so she can justify the request and know what areas she needs to keep a close eye on.

If you have experienced graffiti on your property, please call 911 and file a report. An officer will come by your property so you can file a police report. The Officer will want to know the addresses that have been affected, and also the dates and times that you suspect the vandalism took place.
Once the precinct has a record of the locations, they will be able to schedule officers to patrol the areas on nights and weekends.

I will follow up with the Police and make sure there are officers on patrol watching out for your property this weekend.

Also, please note. The BID will be starting to provide supplemental sanitation services on Nov. 1st. Graffiti removal will be part of that service. If you wish to have your property put on a list for graffiti clean up please contact me at scott@gatewayjfk.org

Thank you,
