Movers & Shakers: The Spring Jam Civic Association
The Spring Jam Civic Association is one of GatewayJFK’s closest Community Partners with a mission to ensure a connection is strengthened between GatewayJFK and the southeast Queens community and its various organizations.
Kim R. Lawton, President of Spring Jam (photo far right), is a lifelong Queens resident, community activist and was an integral member of the GatewayJFK formation process, advocating for the residents of her community from its inception, and recognizing the business improvement district’s goal to serve both the commercial businesses and residents alike.
Ms. Lawton, focused on residential quality of life issues, brings a positive, can-do spirit to every challenge she undertakes. Ms. Lawton, a graduate of John Jay College, has worked at the New York Law Journal, and is currently a Supervising Probation Officer at the NYC Department of Probation. Throughout her years in various positions, she has advocated on behalf of the children and families the agency and the Court serves throughout NYC.
Kim was also a PA President at the High School of Law Enforcement and Public Safety and a member of the NYC Citywide Queens High School Council, where she represented the interests and concerns of the parents on a broader scale. Her experience and insight provide a deep understanding of, and compassion for, her community. We applaud her tireless efforts to make the southeast Queens community, and our world, a better place for all.
